RELIGIOUS ART | NEWS OF WEEK

ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By TAHLIB
Rosh Hashanah was this past week, and my CEO surprised me by taking off both days. Yes, he is Jewish but he also claims to be anti-religious, so it was a surprise. How do you deny religion yet still abide by religious prohibitions such as "not-working" on holydays? I believe he is religious but wants to hide (and protect) certain parts of himself, even in this city of 2 million Jews. I believe he honors these High Holydays because they allow him to reveal his true self to himself. Public denials linked to contradictory practices make Elaine Reichek's "Sampler" (above) at The Jewish Museum of New York my NEWS OF WEEK.

In other religious art news from across the USA, and around the world:
It's more than Art. It's Religion. We are believers and skeptics too, united in the search for human understanding through art of the religious imagination. We believe in the artists and craftsman who dare to explore religious themes through their creativity. When you believe, you join other believers. Some of us join the A&O Project as dues-paying members; others support the A&O Prize - Youth Scholarships as donors; and still other digital members subscribe to this "free" weekly newsletter (or follow on: Flickr, PinterestTumblr, Soundcloud, Facebook, or YouTube). If you believe....join us.
